Ausgrid and JOLT Install Five Free, Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Sydney
Electric vehicle owners and users now have five locations to enjoy free, fast charging with the launch of Ausgrid JOLT EV charging stations on Goodwood St in Kensington, Liverpool Road in Burwood and Forestville shopping centre.
The Kensignton, Burwood and Forestville stations are the third and fourth stations opened since September after successful unveilings in Mona Vale and Strathfield.
The world first initiative transforms existing Ausgrid streetside kiosks into state-of the-art EV charging stations.
Ausgrid Chief Customer Officer Rob Amphlett Lewis said the community is embracing an EV future.
““The Mona Vale and Strathfield chargers have been incredibly popular. In just three months of operation, they’ve provided enough renewable energy for EVs to travel over 35,000 kilometres, saving over 4,600 litres of petrol.”

“I’m so proud we’ve been able to repurpose existing infrastructure to help people make the switch to zero emissions,” Mr Amphlett Lewis said.
JOLT CEO Doug McNamee said he’s excited by the success of the charging stations.
“The existing JOLT kiosks are providing a much-needed boost to the local economy, with almost half the users going shopping, visiting a café or engaging with the community while they wait for their EV to charge,” Mr McNamee said.
“This service helps solve the major barriers affecting the uptake of EVs including access to charging, cost and range anxiety.
“Drivers pull up, plug in and are on their way in 15 minutes, receiving up to 7Kwh free per day, potentially saving over $1000 a year.”
500 charging kiosks will be rolled out across the Ausgrid network, with Hornsby and the Northern Beaches next.
