Electricity Network Safety Management System Report 2023

Ausgrid has published its annual Electricity Network Safety Management System performance report which outlines the activities that Ausgrid is doing to improve safety across the network including the management of bushfire risk.

It includes information about major incidents on the network, safety risks from the loss of electricity supply required to be reported, and how Ausgrid communicates safety messages to the public.

The safety of the community and our people is our number one priority and pleasingly this year’s report notes:

  • there have been no major incidents involving the safety of the public or anyone working on the Ausgrid network,
  • an ongoing reduction in asset failures,
  • key initiatives to improve the effectiveness of controls and engagement with the community including a 93% participation rate with 806 schools, and
  • 98% completion of all inspection tasks and corrective actions.

During the reporting period, Ausgrid also launched an electricity safety website (www.ElectricitySafety.com.au), dedicated to understanding and managing safety risks around electricity in the home, worksites, and emergency response situations.

We continue to remind the community they need to always stay at least 8 metres away from any fallen powerlines, always assume they are live and report any potential hazards to Ausgrid on 13 13 88.
