In a world first initiative, Ausgrid has partnered with JOLT to step change accessibility of electric vehicle charging. This project will provide customers access to free, fast charging across Sydney by transforming existing Ausgrid streetside kiosks into state-of-the-art charging stations for electric vehicles.
With range anxiety being a top barrier in the uptake of Electric Vehicles (EV), we see Ausgrid playing a leading role in being able to overcome the current limited availability of charging stations. This allows us to innovate with existing assets, to support the changing way consumers use electricity. Not only does this deliver value back to the community, it’s also more efficient to utilise existing assets, reducing the need to invest in new stand-alone infrastructure.
This shared asset partnership supports the electrification of transport by giving our customers and community access to renewable energy choices, making it easier for people to charge their vehicles and using 100 per cent green energy.
The first charging stations have opened in Mona Vale and Strathfield, with additional sites coming soon in Randwick, Hornsby and the Northern Beaches. Find out more about the launch in Ausgrid News.
