Before installing a solar power or battery system in Ausgrid’s network you must submit the appropriate Connection Application for a new or upgraded embedded generator. There are different forms and processes depending on the size of the embedded generator. Please see 'Connecting embedded generation'.
The inverter being installed as part of the solar or battery storage system must meet the following criteria:
Some CEC approved inverters are not capable of operating Volt-Watt and Volt-Var power quality response modes concurrently and these inverters are not permitted on Ausgrid’s network. Before you purchase any inverter please confirm that it is capable of meeting Ausgrid’s requirements. If an inverter is installed that does not meet our requirements you may be required (at your cost) to replace it with an inverter that is compliant. If you unsure if an inverter meets our requirements, please contact us to confirm.
Once the connection application has been approved you can proceed with work, which must be carried out in accordance with the relevant rules, standards and guidelines.
