Outage notification process

ASPs are responsible for proactive engagement, negotiation and notification of all parties affected by the requested outage, ensuring customer impacts are minimised.

Negotiations should consider customer impacts and outcomes including alternate dates, times and alternate supply arrangements.
Night outages in residential areas have significant impacts to customers ranging from loss of lighting at night, impacts to hot water system heating cycles and increased risk for apartment block essential services. These factors must be considered when planning an outage.
Proposed outage timeframes must align with project specific environmental assessment (SER/REF) requirements which may reference Ausgrid’s Environmental Handbook or a Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP).
Where complex coordination is required, Ausgrid expect a full project implementation plan (PIP) to be submitted prior to the commencement of construction.
Any variations to a planned outage are to be raised with the Ausgrid appointed representative as soon as practicably possible.
Ausgrid is obligated to ensure all customers being interrupted are notified in line with the National Energy Customer Framework (NECF) requirements.

How to schedule a planned outage

Registered ASPs can request a planned outage against an existing contestable project in the Ausgrid Portal.

Notification of Service Work

Notification of Service Work (NOSW)

To ensure Ausgrid can safely operate the network and provide customers with accurate information on planned and unplanned power outages, our Notification of Service Work (NOSW) records need to be as accurate as possible.

A Notification of Service Work (NOSW) form must be submitted once work has been completed. The locations of all overhead and underground cables, joints and conduit installations must be accurately recorded on the NOSW diagram, and relevant equipment should be correctly labelled in accordance with Ausgrid’s requirements.

How to lodge a NOSW

Complete the Notification of Service Work (NOSW) form via the Ausgrid Portal.
Add your supporting diagram (All NOSWs requiring an overhead or underground service line to be altered must have a diagram submitted with the NOSW.)

Please note: Paper based NOSW’s are no longer accepted.
