EV Charging Partnerships

Ausgrid is partnering with commercial operators to provide ‘close to home’ electric vehicle (EV) charging by utilising our substations and poles.

Around 800,000 customers in our network area have limited opportunities to install their own EV charging systems due to a lack of off-street parking, prohibitive costs, rental agreements or strata restrictions. Pole and substation mounted EV systems avoid the need to dig up the road, helping to deliver public EV charging faster and at lower cost, with less disruption to the community and less clutter on the footpath.

Ausgrid and Jolt launch Electric Vehicle (EV) charging

In April 2021, Ausgrid in partnership with JOLT launched free fast electric vehicle charging across Sydney by transforming existing streetside kiosks. The JOLT EV charger sits on top of Ausgrid’s sub-station kiosks and has two 25kW DC charging ports. These units incorporate advertising screens and provide 7kW of free charging per day to EV drivers.

JOLT has installed 22 chargers across six Sydney Council areas. Find out more about our JOLT partnership.

EVX partnership with Ausgrid and the City of Newcastle

EVX has developed a pole-mounted EV charger that has two 22kW AC charging ports. These chargers are located in Glebe and Mereweather. Find out more about our EVX partnership here.
