Will my bill be cheaper on a time-of-use plan?
The total cost on your bill will not automatically be cheaper with a time of use plan. However, through active monitoring and changing your usage habits to utilise the off-peak time, you could potentially reduce your bill.

Why are my retailer’s time-of-use periods different to Ausgrid?
We provide our time-of-use periods to retailers, however retailers are able to consider other factors and set their own time periods for the customer.

Why doesn’t Ausgrid include any shoulder period anymore?
We removed the shoulder period and combined it with off-peak times to simplify our pricing structure and increase the likelihood of savings. Retailers may continue to offer a shoulder rates for a limited period, but we expect they will eventually simplify their offerings over time.

Why do retailers prices differ from Ausgrid prices?
Our prices are approved by the Australian Energy Regulator and come into effect on 1 July each year. Energy retailers incorporate those prices into the final tariffs that appear on your electricity bill. Retailers can choose how they pass on these network charges, taking into account their own pricing strategies and priorities.
