Update on storm recovery

Ausgrid emergency crews have again worked throughout the night and have now restored power to more than 38,700 customers impacted by Wednesday’s high winds, heavy rain and lightning.
Around 1,290 Ausgrid customers remain without power including in Sydney (300), Newcastle and Maitland (190), the Central Coast (520), and Muswellbrook and Singleton (280).
The majority of customers are expected to be back on today, but in some cases the extent of damage and access challenges may mean restoration will occur on Saturday.

Our crews have been working around the clock to restore power after yesterday’s wild weather. So far, we’ve restored power to more than 32,000 homes and businesses, and we’re continuing to work hard for the remaining customers. Around 7,700 customers are still without power in Sydney (1,250), Newcastle & Maitland (1,750), Central Coast (1,700) and Muswellbrook & Singleton (3,000).
Most customers are expected to be back on tonight, but some areas with significant damage or difficult access may take until tomorrow or Saturday. Crews are even using drones to patrol lines in remote areas, helping speed up restoration where work needs to be done section by section.

Our field and drone operating crews have been busy this morning inspecting remote parts of the network to help speed up power restoration after yesterday’s severe storms.
High winds, heavy rain and lightning brought down powerlines and damaged infrastructure across the network. Crews are responding to 900+ electrical hazards, including fallen poles, powerlines, and trees on wires.
Around 13,500 customers remain without power, including in Sydney (1788), Newcastle and Maitland (3196), the Central Coast (4518), and Muswellbrook and Singleton (4092). The majority of customers are expected to be back on today, but some outages may extend into tomorrow due to damage and access challenges.

Ausgrid emergency crews are continuing to work to restore power to homes after high winds, heavy rain and lightning yesterday afternoon brought down powerlines and damaged infrastructure across the network.
⚠️Around 15,000 Ausgrid customers are without power including in Newcastle and Maitland (4,600) the Central Coast (3,400) and Muswellbrook and Singleton (4,500).
Ausgrid emergency crews have already restored power to more than 25,000 customers overnight and will continue working today to restore power when safe to do so.
Crews are responding to over 900 electrical hazards reported by emergency services and customers, including fallen poles and powerlines, and trees and branches on wires.
The majority of customers are expected to be back on by today, but depending on the extent of damage and access some outages may extend into tomorrow.
Due to the rugged and remote terrain in some areas, restorations need to take place section by section.
