Yes. The form will allow you to save the details that relate to your ABN for reuse.

No. There will not be a transition period. Paper based applications are no longer accepted once the switch over to SmartForms on 10 June 2019.

Once the request for connection application form is paid and submitted, there is no change to the current processes. The connection applicant will receive an offer to connect from Ausgrid, through the normal process.

If you don’t receive a reply, check your spam or junk folder to see if you find any of our emails there.

Open the email and look for the option “Not Spam or Junk” on top of the email and mark them accordingly. This will ensure you always get our emails in your inbox

No. For Security we don’t save your credit card details. You will need to enter your credit card details with each payment.

This is dependent on the complexity of your application and the information that you need to provide. The time spent on applying should now be less than the time spent on applying using the legacy NECF forms.

Please speak to your IT department or use an alternate internet connection.

At the end of the form you will be presented with an option to pay using your credit or debit card via a secure online payment portal BPOINT provided by the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

The CBA BPOINT portal is dependent on the availability of credit card provider services (e.g. Visa, MasterCard) and it is outside the control of the Commonwealth Bank if these services are unavailable.

The form can be saved to attempt making the payment at a later time when the service becomes available.

This initiative is independent of the implementation of Power of Choice.

This initiative improves our online capability and makes it easy to complete and submit preliminary enquiries requiring a written response and connection applications.

SmartForms work best providing your preferred internet browser is one of the following:

• Internet Explorer version 11 and above
• Google Chrome version 33 and above
• Firefox version 34 and above
• Safari version 8 and above

The Connections section of our website contains resources which can provide you with more information. If your enquiry warrants a written response from Ausgrid, upfront payment will be required for a member of our technical team to conduct research and answer your enquiry.

Yes. The SmartForms were designed to be compatible with tablet devices and laptops in mind. The SmartForms can be completed on a mobile device; however, the user experience will vary dependant on your device.

Yes. We have simplified the questions and the information we need from by introducing drop down lists and check boxes to reduce the amount of data entry required. You can now add attachments with your enquiry or application submission.

No. From 10 June 2019, you will only be able to submit applications via the SmartForms online.

No. PDF and emailed applications will no longer be accepted from 10 June 2019. Please ensure you only use the Smart Forms to avoid having your application returned or rejected.

Paying for multiple submissions is not yet available.

Progress is represented visually in the form of chevrons across the top of the screen.

The SmartForm will force the completion of mandatory fields and display any error messages for things like data formatting errors and missing information.

Yes. The form will allow you to save your data for up to 60 days before you submit.
When saving an application in progress, you will be asked to provide an email address and an email will be sent to you with a link to the saved form.

No. At the end of the form you will be given an option to go back and edit certain areas.

No. For multiple premises 100Amps and belowthe forms will allow you to apply for multiple premises at a single connection location at a time.

For Multiple premises above 100Amps, the form will allow you to apply for total load at the location and advise how many individual premises you are requesting, then as per current practice once load is approved a schedule of labelling spreadsheet will be emailed. You will need to complete and return for the creation of individual units / premises.

Applications for connections for different connection locations need to be submitted separately.

Included in the previous load approval communication the connection applicant received, was a schedule of labelling spreadsheet.

You will need to complete this spreadsheet in the required format and return to datanorth@ausgrid.com.au.

On receipt of this spreadsheet the premises will be created as advised and the individual NMI numbers will be issued to the connection applicant.

You need a technical background to be able to understand and complete the form. The language on the form has not changed. We have not changed the questions. Technical knowledge is still required.

Yes , We have removed redundant questions and are asking targeted questions to assist with the processing of you connection application.

Yes. There are fields to provide comments and you can now also affix additional attachments.

Make sure all mandatory fields are completed. You will see an error message if you have left any mandatory field blank, the message appears on the specific field.

You will receive a confirmation email and be given the opportunity to download a PDF of your submitted form.

The SmartForms will speed up the process of completing the form however, the processing time for your connection application will remain the same.

Yes, there is a total size limit of 20 MB for attachments per application form. You can attach one file up to 20 MB or several attachments providing the cumulative total does not exceed 20MB.

No. ZIP files will not be accepted.

You can try reducing your file into multiple smaller files and submitting those.

If you are unable to reduce your file size and need to submit a file larger than 20 MB please submit your form with a clearly marked dummy attachment.

At the end of the form you will be presented with an option to pay using your credit or debit card via a secure online payment portal BPOINT.

Only VISA and MASTERCARD will be accepted.

You will be emailed a receipt with your reference number to the email address you provided on the application. Please make sure that your email address is correct.

To prevent this from happening, we have introduced a number of mandatory fields. You will not be able to progress further through the form if you leave them blank.

If incorrect information is submitted on the forms, and you are required to complete and resubmit a new form you will be charged again.

The forms are named based on the connection offer service you are seeking.

For example, if you are applying to make a new connection of 100 Amps or less you should complete the ‘New Connections 100 Amps and Below’ form.

• Update antivirus software
• Try creating a new file. If the problem persists save your form and use another PC to complete the application
• Scan the files with a current antivirus application to remove virus/malware from your PC and resubmit.

After you complete your submission you will be emailed a copy of your application and before submitting you l also have the option to download a PDF copy of the application.

This fee refers to the processing services associated with the submission of the SmartForm.

The fee for processing an application is regulated by the Australian Energy Regulator and is a fee for the service we provide to assess your enquiry or application and provides you with a written response or a connection offer.

No. Once you have paid for an assessment to be undertaken, the connection offer service fee is consumed and cannot be refunded; by submitting your application you have agreed to have the application assessed and to receiving an offer from Ausgrid, whether you choose to accept the offer or not.

No. Once the SmartForm has been submitted and paid it is non-refundable. The form can be partially completed, and you will have up to 60 days to submit (and pay) before it is removed from our assessment queue.

If you need to amend an already submitted application, you will be required to submit a new application and pay the fee again.

You must ensure the information on the application form is correct at the time of submission. There is an opportunity to review the application details before proceeding to payment and submission.

Yes. We are fully compliant with the regulatory framework. You can find more information about this topic in Connection Charges.

Payment can be made by a third party as it does not need to be the same person who fills in the form.

To transfer payment to a third party, complete the form except for the payment, utilise the option save & share this will allow you to type in the email address of the party you would like to pay for the application. To receive a copy of this link yourself you can also add your email address. There is provision for 2 email address to be provided.

Finally, instruct that party which will receive the email that they should follow the link within the email to payment section
