Warriewood Community Battery
Ausgrid installed this battery under the Australian Government’s Community Batteries for Household Solar Program.

This project also co-funded a rooftop solar system on Warriewood Community Centre, in collaboration with Northern Beaches Council.

Community batteries strengthen the grid to support more connections such as rooftop solar and electric vehicle charging. Ausgrid installed this rooftop solar system for the community to demonstrate how storage can support the uptake and use of renewable energy.

Daniel is a proud deaf, First Nations Wonnarua artist, living on Gadigal land. His art is inspired by what he sees and feels from the physical environment, the atmosphere, human interaction and the dreamtime.

“Having a disability means that I have often been isolated. I can use colours and symbols and can do it by myself. I can use art to communicate.

I started painting when I was 5 years old. The Elders watched me on the sidelines while the other kids were playing in the 1980s. They took me aside and taught me how to paint and show meaning through art. The elders gave me an understanding of community and encouraged me to become an artist.”

Skylight is about overcoming adversity and never surrendering to negative things that come our way. It conveys the idea of both calmness that can be attained from being still in our physical environment; and a resolve never to give up.
